the color purple.

Over the weekend, I had my hair highlighted purple. Yes, purple- my first "exciting" color. :)

You see, I have terrible, terrible luck with haircuts and the like. Somehow, "just a trim" becomes 2-3 inches, and sometimes (last time), bangs that are vertically only on one half of my face (literally). So, after 4 months of non-haircutting, I tried my luck at Supercuts... only to be fantastically surprised. Not only did she trim my hair without lopping of inches, we actually carried a good conversation. I pleasantly surprised with the cut and was equally pleased to hear that she also can do highlights... bright highlights... that won't eat my wallet.

So on Saturday, I fell into the Twighlight Zone.

Turns out, the hairstylist not only moved 7 months ago too, but she also LOVES Katamari (!), corgis are her dream dogs (YES!), she plays the keyboard, has the same model of laptop I'm considering buying, majoring in Psychology, people confuse her for being either Filipino or Hispanic, and the list goes on... It even got to the point where she randomly mentioned liking this one cute sweater with bear ears, and I mentioned I was actually ordering one...

Somewhere along the line I figured I was probably in good hands. :)

That night, Eric and I walked around downtown (after having a fantastic Momoko bubble tea!)... and a bird pooped on my head... on my hair... on my new, purple highlights. I've never been pooped on by a bird... especially at night... especially after getting highlights. Luckily, we went home shortly after and I was able to wash that part of my hair... only to find a lovely discolored patch.

Alas! This is why you wash your car after birds poo!

Interesting weekend comments:

Mr. Wenske: "I thought it was going to look gross!"
Mrs. Wenske: "I wasn't sure how I'd like it. It's not so bad."
Mom: "What the heck is this? Purple?... this looks... nice. Why does this look nice?"
Kim: "This is surprisingly nice."

whoa, a drastic highlighting job at Supercuts! Daring! Well, it looks great! And Joanne and I were just talking the other day about how jealous we were that you could still wear your hair (and nose!) so awesomely :)
