cosplay.

So Saturday was my first time to ever cosplay AND go to an anime convention. It was awfully overwhelming!

A friend of mine, Stevo, came to pick me up so we could meet up with his wife and her friend (we were all doing a group cosplay... except Stevo didn't have a chance to change). Right as we walked in, he was telling me that people would probably be wanting to take pictures of me/with me, which was terrifying because I'm not too fond of having my picture taken (and I try and avoid them, haha). Well by the time he finished his speech and we walked in, this guy in front of me (who hadn't heard the conversation) saw my costume and asked if he could take my picture. I was terrified! Then, a guy dressed as Pikachu and his friends came over and asked for a picture as well! I was awfully overwhelmed, terribly shy, and hid behind Stevo asking if they could ask me later. >_< I think they took pictures of me hiding anyways, and I think I made Pikachu mad.....

So eventually I let people take pictures of me (I felt really awkward... and probably looked awkward, haha). Some of the instances were really weird... This one guy came up to me, asked me to hold his stuffed animal squid and smile... Mmmmm, okay. I also got random hugs from people when Stevo was in the bathroom (I then hid in the bathroom until he came back)...

Thankfully when we found Chrystal and her friend (whose name I can't spell), it was a little less awkward since I could pull in the two of them for pictures (it's like a buy one get two free deal!). Yeah... I'm not to great with pictures, and I'm afraid all these people have awkard pictures of me since I didn't quite pose or have props, haha. I just feel silly when people take pictures of me >_<.

A-kon was an interesting experience. I was terribly overwhelmed by the sounds, smell (!), and people, but once things died down a bit it was nice to take in the pretty costumes and etc. It was also nice to have our characters be recognized by some people :). Yeah, it was fun, and it'd be nice to try sewing again (I magically learned how to sew during a span of a few days!).

I'll be sure to post up some pictures of the costuming process! :)
