Mew from Jet Set Radio! This was my goal (minus the roller blades since they weren't allowed at A-kon... and my knees would be pissed)!

I ended up not buying a pattern, and decided to trace one of my dresses (which unfortunately didn't have long sleeves). I really just had to hope for the best... after I actually started pinning and etc. I was awfully afraid it wasn't going to fit...

So I
finally got that sewing machine (that I got for Christmas from my mom) out of my car... I just had to learn how to get it up and running... and how to sew. Sewing the main part was okay, and I took in the top portion because it was too large... only to realize the sleeves wouldn't fit if I took them in... only to realize that I couldn't undo my mistake without making some holes... Luckily, the holes were tiny and covered up! Sleeves were by far the most difficult. My first 3 sets were too tight! >_<

Pins are dangerous! Every now and then, I'd randomly lose some on my carpet... Hopefully I've (safely!) found them all! At one point, I lost the sewing needle and found it when I stumbled... how dangerous!

I realized at the last minute that I should probably make her headphones. I had no idea where I could get cheap, rectangular headphones, so I bought a pair of headphones from Dollar General for $1.20 and picked up two eye drops boxes. I stuffed the insides with foam to keep it from shifting, duct taped it, and spray painted it... in my bathroom (luckily I wasn't messy!). I painted the red tip with nail polish, and let it hang to dry... on my toilet paper dispenser... The antenna is actually the a piece of my tv antenna that Stevo broke, haha.

I had this terrific idea that I should bead the emblem on her dress! I suppose I could have painted it or just used the felt... oddly, this never really occurred to me, and I thought it would turn out nicely.

...but I didn't realize it would take sooooooo long... Literally, I had just finished beading when Stevo came to pick me up! Another thing that took a while to sew was the feathery boa. I had to be careful not to bunch it up, and oddly, I have stray feathers flying around my room.

Tada! Unfortunately, I didn't fix up a nice spray can prop... So I often looked kinda awkward in pictures (not to mention how nervous I felt, haha). Chrystal dressed up as Gum and her friend (whose name I can't spell?) was Rapid 99 (both characters from Jet Set Radio).

Success?
Yes and no... >_<
