bubble tea party!
Wouldn't it be fun to have a themed tea party? Showing up all costumed up and fabulous? Maybe a costumed steampunk tea party? Or something more storybook? Maybe you can be the Mad Hatter and I can be Alice?
Well, on the same tangent, I've been craving tea lately, more specifically, bubble tea. Although I don't have fancy stuff to make amazing flavors, I did have some essential boba (bubble tea) making supplies.
Soooo, today, is recipe day!
Simple Syrup:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 cups water
Let's make the simple syrup, first!
Boil 2 cups of water. Once that is ready, pour the sugar in, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Done? Place it in the fridge to cool!
Boba:
1 cup boba
6 cups water
Once the water has boiled, pour in the boba pearls, stirring occasionally so it doesn't form a gooey layer on the bottom of the pot... Continue to let boil for about 15 minutes, then set on low for 10 minutes. Your boba should slowly start to float!
Next, rinse the boba with cold water (this will wash off some of the excess stickiness). Isn't it pretty? I bought rainbow boba. It doesn't taste different, but it sure is prettier!
Place boba pearls into the simple syrup and let cool. As it cools, the boba should take on a little bit of the sugary goodness. :)
Prepare tea!
This is really up to you, I suppose. Green tea or Jasmine would be nice, though, but I boiled some water (in my beautiful kettle!) and let two Tazo chai bags steep for a bit.
Once the tea is ready, pour some of the tea into a cocktail shaker (or water bottle...) with some ice cubes and milk. I also like to add a little bit of honey, too. Shake shake shake until it becomes nice and frothy!
Pour your mixture into a cup, and add the cooled down boba pearls, pouring a bit of the simple syrup to taste.
TADA!!!!
Now if only I had some fat straws...
If you have excess boba, save it! Just be sure to boil the pearls a little bit to soften the core. :)
