Austin Chocolate Festival
True to my post, and despite a busy week, Saturday, I ventured out to the land of chocolate! The event itself was a bit smaller than I anticipated, though they did have a live band and ample amount of treats! With a two hour time slot and a sheet of tickets, I perused and sampled a great assortment of treats. I voted for a competition, sampled the 1st place truffle winners (yum!), had a few sea salt chocolates, cookies, ice cream, giant pastries, fudge, and lots of chocolate bits!
My favorite of the day however, was a fantastic honey, jalapeno, dark chocolate truffle. The chocolate had a wonderful balance of richness and creaminess, and the spiciness slowly builds in your month. Hands down my favorite of the event! I've never had spicy chocolate before, so that was a pleasant treat! But too bad the actual chocolate is so expensive!!!
Blissed Out's Spicy Mexican is probably 2nd on my list. Organic, gluten-free, dairy-free, raw chocolate with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cayenne pepper, I happily went back for another sample, and inevitably, a small (on sale!) package of chocolate. Mmmmm!
The Chocolate Festival had a plethora of different things, too. From the double chocolate stout (yes, a dark beer with chocolate!), to an all chocolate Warhol "painting," I really enjoyed the event, eating, and the fun box I filled with extra samples.
