power house!
Yesterday, I bought a microphone bundle which includes both the M-Audio MXL 990 and 991 as well as a Lambda USB audio/ midi interface! I don't know too much about live recording, but after coming across it and getting a thumbs up from one of my professors, I figured it'd be a great opportunity to start learning :).After a long visit to Guitar Center, I ended up with a Lexicon Lambda ($150) and the two mics ($99), but I managed to get a $55 discount. We finally check out, and then had a rather long discussion about programs, gigs, and production. :)
Set up was fairly easy. The Lexicon Lambda has good reviews which I can attest to (at least thus far, haha). I'm quite glad it also has midi I/O, so I can eventually hook up my keyboard to the computer and work on stuff, and the two mic connections are a nice asset. The Lambda also comes with a condensed version of Cubase LE, which I'll probably toy with when I'm not too busy. The mics also had really good reviews, so that's exciting :)! Overall, it was a good purchase, I'm pleased.
I was able to get a recording of the kid's song lyrics for the game class last night. It's quite dreadful, haha! We tried to make it sound really cheesy, but now I'm worried that it's too cheesy! >_< Since I didn't know how to to use Cubase LE, I resorted to Audacity. . . which can be terribly difficult when it comes to editing (at least in comparison to other programs). Regardless, I finished it rather late at night/early in the morning, and sent it of to our lead sound designer. . . and will have to discuss it tonight with the sound team. . . . . I really hope that goes well!!!
Now that that's partially out of the way, I need to cram in a ridiculous amount of info for my two tests tomorrow. . .
Today, I will become a powerhouse of music, coffee, and knowledge!
