Black eyes?
Just a random thought I suppose, but what color are your eyes?Growing up, I used to tell people I had black eyes, and many of my Asian friends said the same. But black eyes, really? More like dark brown. Recently, I've asked older Asian people (or looked at their driver's license) and heard/seen that many of them claim to have black eyes.
I haven't, however, found many non-Asian individuals claiming to have black eyes.
So I suppose it's a silly, question, but could it be more of a cultural description? For example, in many Asian countries dating from way back when (haha), many praised individuals with the ebony black hair, valuing its richness. It was something to be proud of. The richness of black was elegant and classic, something that you would wish to have. Now for many of us, if you hear black eyes, you might relate that to someone having bruises or injuries.
I guess this is kinda a silly post.
My parents claim "black" as their eye color.
Mine are dark brown.

For me as a kid, I didn't even know saying you had black eyes was an option. In my spite, I would say "mud brown." =(
Same here. I never heard anyone describe their eyes as black. ...except in this one book.
