by land, air, and sea.

Last week I carpooled to Dallas and flew back.

While I've flown many times before, it was the first time I had flown by myself. And then it dawned on me- I'd have to be sandwiched between two strangers. As I sat waiting to board the plane, I found myself watching my prospective flight buddies. "Please don't be the smelly man... Please not the lady with the crying baby... Please not the woman who's been giving me weird stares..." And then I laughed- I wonder how many of them were doing the exact same thing.

Tomorrow, Eric and I will be taking the Amtrak to Dallas. I love having a travel buddy! The train ride, however, is rather long... as in, 6-7 hours long (as opposed to 3-3.5), but we figure it'll beat hitting UT/OU traffic and we get to waltz around. I'm rather excited. So excited, I'd really like to throw on some old-timey clothes and a lovely parasol, too.

How was the Amtrak? I remember John mentioning it to me before, and I imagined up that romanticized view of traveling via rail with dining cars, pull-down beds, etc.

it would have been much more enjoyable if everyone was wearing old-timey clothing! :)
