caviar pancakes
Today felt like a Monday. I had only 3 hours of sleep (though I did have an hour nap later!) before going to work in the morning, we had a meeting with hungry stomachs, interviewed a pleasant girl, had an unproductive day in class, and I went to watch Brittany get a haircut (haha). Julia and I were supposed to get groceries after her nap, but unfortunately, she didn't get up until around 9-ish. Instead, I spent 8-11 driving with my windows rolled down, enjoying the cool weather, and listening to jazz. Granted, I didn't spend the entire time driving! I spent nearly half that time at Borders, relaxing, and basking between pages of books. Well. . . that, and I bought pink shoes. :)Later, Julia and I made up for our lack of food, and visited iHop for a past-midnight meal, chatting about zombies again, and discussing the potential (or inevitable) danger (of disappointment) in ordering popcorn shrimp at iHop. Also. . . we noticed that my blueberry topped pancakes oddly looked like large. . . caviar. . .
Aside from that,
Gearbox looked at my website today! Hoorah!!! Hopefully something good will come out of that. :)
Also, Pedro Camacho PMed me today. I had corresponded briefly with him over the summer in regards to advice he had about getting into the industry, musical inspiration, and the work process of composing. He is a rather talented guy, and I was flattered that he remembered me and dropped a line.
Although our discussion today was more of a, "Hi, how are you? Any new projects?", it made me think that if I one day can become successful, I really want to be able to reach out and help others in their trek. . . especially girls. Haha. So I don't mean to be bias, but I really want to help other girls make their way into the game industry. That's right, I want to show that male-dominated industry that there are plenty of talented women out there. Hopefully, I can eventually add myself to that category.
With that said, there is plenty that I need to do. I need to do much studying and get myself better acquainted with equipment, sound design (because there's a slim chance I'd be able to get in with just music alone), games, and music as a whole. And although Gearbox has poked at my site, I know that I can't depend on that, and though one of my professors told me that I don't necessarily need an internship, I really want to find one. Hopefully, someone will take me, be it in the game industry, or the audio realm as a whole. But I know I have a lot of catching up to do. I've only started composing for about a year, and only have seriously started pursuing this route since June of 2008. I admit, a lot of times I'm deeply discouraged, but there are plenty of times when I realize this is what I want, and I know where I want to go.
I know I'll have to work hard, and hopefully, you will be able to hear that. Please lend me your support, advice, and food (I'm quite hungry.).
this time, i won't rely on luck. i'll chose my cards, and give them to you. . .
