Baby, it's cold outside!
Brrrrr! Can you believe it? Just the other day ago we were in the upper 60s (maybe low 70s?), and today's high was 34*F with icy rain! Oh silly, weather! :)
Today, I actually had intentions of skipping my 4-5:15 class after my meeting so that Julia and I could drop by more businesses for our fundraiser before some of the local businesses close. I was a bit bummed that I didn't receive an e-mail about the cancellation of classes this morning since I hadn't quite finished collecting/making the sounds for my game class, but oh well.
Presentation of the sound assets collected was well received, so that was a relief! Afterwards, we get word that any classes after 3:00 PM have been cancelled due to bad weather! We actually ended a bit early and didn't have our leads meeting, and our professor ordered pizza for the class! Apparently, someone mentioned that the class length and hunger, so we may possibly be pooling in money for food each week (though I might just bring in my own). I was actually pretty excited about that. Our class officially lasts from 11:30-2:15, but then the leads of each group meet from 2:15+ and sometimes that barely leaves me with enough time to eat before my 4-5:15 class.
Consequentially, I didn't have to skip my other class, and met up with Julia to do a little more donation shopping before the roads became more gross and icy. We officially received 3 today, and are now waiting on word from 4 other locations we visited. I'd say we're doing fairly well, but we need to hit up large restaurants and more areas (say, Frisco and Addison for example). I'm not sure if we have enough time or if another officer could possibly take up that responsibility. I really want to be able to tap into a couple florists, at least one spa/nail salon, and a nice restaurant. I suppose I'll have to wait for our officer meeting on Wednesday to further develop a plan.
One of the places we dropped by was Cafe Brazil, and of course, we didn't hesitate to snack. :) Unfortunately, they were out of their espresso brownie and ice cream thingy of happiness, so I settled for the Chocolate Indulgence and bottomless coffee.
Also, do you ever find your predictive text to make funny sentences? Sometimes I wonder about T9. . . one day, I tried to text Julia to see if she wants to go with me to find a good Asian buffet, but somehow T9 decided, "Let's go find a good Brian buffet!" appropriate. Then of course, there was the day I was trying to tell Patsu that the cookies were done, only to find that I sent, "The cookies are food!" >_< Well, today, I almost sent one of the officers this (in regards to our Valentine's Day fundraiser):
Now, I'm back home listening to the icy rain tapping on my window. I still have oodles of work to do, though, but I feel like slipping into bed and reading. Mmmm... maybe tomorrow's classes will be cancelled. :)
