Hello, New Year!

Hello, 2009! I welcome you with a sniffy nose!

We celebrated the new year in downtown Austin this year. They had this big shabang downtown starting 3:00 PM, filling the streets with booths, local bands, street performances, arts and crafts, a parade featuring elementary schools, HEB, clubs, and a mechanical praying mantis. There was this really funny woman we stood by who was terribly amused with the randomness of the parade. At one point, she yelled out, "Man with babies?. . . Hooray! Man with babies!!!"

Later that night, there was a very, very, long fireworks display which brought in the new year.












It was a lot of fun and pretty cold (I only had a sweater); I woke up this morning all sniffy.
